I was messing around with some new software and came up with this. It took for frigin ever and this is all I got. Oh how I want a Mac. In this video you’ll hear Maggie (Schnoodle-creamy coloured dog) squeal her ass off. I must mention that she is NOT hurt or in any pain. This is just the way she greets visitors. She gets extremely excited and squeals as though someone is standing on her paw or something. This is her excited and I-can’t-believe-YOU-are-here squeal. 
This is the “typical” Sweets. Doesn’t really do much. Just sort of lays around all the time. My dad makes fun and says he’s just like a cat. I don’t know as though I disagree. Sure, he has his moments of excitedness, but generally, this is Sweets. I’ve read online that some people are trying to figure out how to calm down a hyper Shih Poo!!! Sweets has never been that active, per se. Even as a puppy he was very laid back. As I type this he is back to laying on the same couch (as in the video) except on the opposite pillow. Certain words or phrases give a little burst of excitement, but generally he pretty much lays around. AND, he’s only 6 (just turned). I can’t even imagine what he will be like at 12. He’ll probably be comatosed or something. It doesn’t bother me one bit though. I still love him and his fuzzy butt to pieces.
Before I say anything about this video, you may want to turn down your volume. The background music is annoyingly loud and I didn’t realize it as I was recording. This is Sweets longingly watching me eat a rice cake. A rice cake! He’s never had one before. I guess he figured if I was eating it, it must be good. Poor misinformed doggie. Rice cakes? Meh. It was popcorn/butter flavour though, but still. Anyway, after he “lasered” me with his eyes, I gave him a small piece. Get this, he actually ate it. I was pretty surprised he would, actually. After I uploaded the video on youtube having “rice cakes” as one of the tags, I was really surprised to see the amount of videos out there of dogs eating rice cakes. Strange for sure. I guess those people, like me, will record and upload practically anything. I can’t get over the intensity of his eyes. Seriously, how could I resist and not give him a little piece. It was just a tiny piece. Bad mommy! I should really stop doing that because that’s how he got to be a chunky monkey in the first place (that was before he lost some weight due to less food, no human food for a bit, and much longer walks).
Sweets hates bugs…with a passion. If one goes near him, he thinks there are a million awaiting to bite him. It’s almost like he is paranoid. I thought it was weird until I talked to another dog owner and realized that their dog does the same thing. Maybe I’m the paranoid one, eh? This video is Sweets just mildly paranoid about a fly. I didn’t get him in full fledged paranoid mode, but you can see what I am talking about in this video. Poor little guy is way too slow to catch the nasty flying beasts. Spiders and moths, no problem, but flies, he has a problem with. Enjoy the “twitchy” Sweets in all his twitchy glory. I think I need to turn down the tv when I’m video-ing him. When I watched it all I could hear was that annoying Mr. Clean Magic Eraser commercial. That’s almost more annoying than those damn flies.
It’s Sweets’ 6th!!! birthday today. This morning he got a plethora of yummy treats. He is now resting and digesting. Here’s a video of Sweets telling the world that it’s his birthday. Look how excited he is. Happy Birthday my darling Sweets! Here’s to another happy and healthy year and many more to come! In case you don’t know…a “Wubba” is any toy of choice that is near Sweets. I tried to teach him the name of all his toys and the first one I trained him to know the name of was his Wubba (that Kong toy with “tails”). He did so well at it that every toy is now known as a “Wubba”. Happy Saturday everywoof/one. Hope you all are having a great weekend. Sweets are spending some time relaxing and then going to visit Grandma tomorrow. Sweets buddy, Judy (human buddy), will be there to spoil the crap out of him. I’m sure he’ll have a very pleasant day. Happy Civic holiday weekend to my fellow Canadians. Smoochies.
Just a quick, short video of my little “bubby” Sweets. Nothing much happens, but he is sooo super cute, I just had to share. Hope you enjoy it. Hope everywoof/one had a great weekend. It was super hot here when all the dogs got together for a play day. I would have to say that it was the most humid day of the year so far. I was begging for a thunderstorm, but it just didn’t happen. Sweets had a great weekend. He acted tough with Ben, sweet and playful with Maggie and attacked and/or ignored Bailey. You know, the usual.
My camera is absolutely terrible when the background is sun. Well, it’s not even sun, really. Any light brighter than the foreground and it gets this weird pink thick line through the shot. Weird. I hope this stuff works. The last time I went to the vet, he told me Sweets would need to get his teeth cleaned next year. I’m going to do whatever I can to prevent that so I am trying this stuff. I just hate the idea of putting Sweets to sleep for something as dumb as a teeth cleaning. It’s not the price that scares me, it’s the whole sedating thing that scares me. I hear it’s way more risky for little dogs and that freaks me out. Sweets turns 6! in almost 3 weeks. I am trying to think of what treat he would love the most. It’s got to be something food related because he’s all about the food. He was born August 9th, 2004.
It’s another hot and humid day in Southern Ontario. Sweets is handling it much better now that he is all groomed. He no longer spends all of his time on the kitchen floor. I’ve decided that from now on, he is getting groomed every 6 weeks instead of every 8. It’s only 2 weeks difference, but I think it will make all the difference in his comfort level, especially during the summer months. Here he is chilling on top of his favourite couch. He spends most of his napping time here. You can see how obviously relaxed he is in this video. After I finished shooting it, he moved to the other couch. I guess I irritated the poor little thing. Awww! I hope you enjoyed this video.
